About Us
Quite a few yrs back we booked a charter boat in Fiji for 2 wks. Â
Vunisea, Matava, BiteMe fishing charters.Â
We had caught everything we wanted to after 5-6 days and asked the skipper "What now.?  he came back with some light gear ranging from 10kg down to 3kg and asked if we would have a go ...... Over the following week we fished lighter and lighter until BiteMe was loaded with only 3 and 4kg rods...Â
During those last few days we managed 3 or 4 Wahoo to 18-20kg, dropped a few YF Tuna boatside of around 25-30kg, ( drag washers warm up after a couple of hours on a fish and self tighten. I'm sticking to that story.)Â

By the time I returned home I realised I was hooked on ultralight game fishing, so, I searched for a rod builder anywhere in Australia who would or could build me a couple of 3 and 4kg Rollered Game rods specifically targeting Pelagics. ... typical replies were: WHY.? What for.? Waste of time mate, the fish will just break you off..!! blah blah blah, and so on..... !! NO JOY........

Well, How hard can it be.?? I'll tell you right now, the rod building learning curve is vertical ... and determination does pay off, went back to Fiji numerous times during the next 3 yrs to test different rollered rods.. we knew the rods were ok, we were just trying to determine if there was a blank material which responded better to the "hit and run" ...Â

EGlass stood head & shoulders above others, room for error, massive shock absorber, so easy to stay connected.
Strange as it seems KG Whiting are easily self-hooked on soft EGlass as well...but that's another story.

That was almost 15yrs ago, been building Grails on and off ever since... Focusing on why a fish was lost has given Grailmasters the edge..Â
